The goal of the EAA Young Eagles Program nationally is to give one million young people ages 8-17 a free introductory airplane flight by the 100th anniversary of the Wright brothers' first powered flight in the year 2003. At the end of 2000, the number of registered Young Eagles receiving their first flight totalled 660,000 so the EAA is on schedule to achieve the one million mark. These rides are provided through the generosity of nearly 30,000 volunteer EAA pilots and members of other authorized aviation organizations. Through the EAA Young Eagles Program, we hope to inspire a new generation to explore the exciting world of aviation.
